4. Quit smoking.
5. Look into becoming a Turbo Kick instructor.
6. Take a vacation!

10 Fit Tips for the Holidays

The holidays are a time of excess—lots of parties and lots of spending. But it isn't just the credit card debt that many people are trying to shed in the New Year. It's also those excess pounds! With all the family gatherings, office parties, and Christmas celebrations, it can be easy to gain 5 to 10 pounds between Thanksgiving and January.

Don't fret. Here are my Festive and Fit tips that will have you fabulous and fit during the holidays and looking and feeling great into the New Year:

Fitness Tips:

1.When you're out at a holiday party, don't just dance for one song—stay on the dance floor and be a dancing machine. Extra points for doing the moonwalk in your "'Tis the Season" stilettos!

2.Before shopping at the mall, put on your comfortable shoes so when you get there you can walk a couple of laps around the mall then purchase your goodies. Warning: Sprint through the food court so that you won't stop to smell the combination of pizza, chicken, chili dogs, and cinnamon rolls.

3.Ignore valet parking and don't waste your time driving around for 20 minutes for a close parking spot. Park and walk. Once inside, make a conscious choice to take the stairs. If you do take the stairs, you have the right to give a judgmental slow shake of the head directed at the people riding the escalator.

4.For those who love Christmas caroling, add some movement. Sing, move, and get your groove on. If you want to turn the speed up a notch, I suggest working out to A Chipmunk Christmas.

5.Give your loved ones gifts that will keep their hearts healthy and their buns blessed. For example: Body Gospel fitness program, walking shoes, a pair of weights, or sessions with a trainer. That will beat a fruitcake, a pair of fuzzy slippers, or a Chia Pet® any day of the week!

Nutrition Tips:

1.Eat a healthy snack before you leave the house to go to a holiday party or the grocery store. If you don't, you could find yourself filling your basket or your tummy with stuff you would normally pass up.

2.Make sure when you leave for the party you're not empty-handed. Keep your hands full with holding a purse, camera, cell phone . . . anything that will keep you from holding food or a drink—unless it's water.

3.When you do eat at the gathering, grab a small plate; think small portions; and once you have your plate of food, stay far away from the table of temptation. And that doesn't mean pile the food onto the small plate. Here's a rule: If you're holding a salad plate at the height of your stomach and food is rubbing against your chin . . . you've got way too much!

4.Just politely say no to Aunt Betty when she wants to load you down with doggie bags of leftover ham, macaroni and cheese, and sweet potato pie. But say yes if she asks if she's prying about wanting to know when you're going to get married and have children.

5.Remember to hydrate and keep in mind that certain drinks (especially caffeinated and alcoholic ones) will dehydrate you. So drink up, yes, but make it H20. Scope out the bathrooms so that you won't risk making that uncomfortable wandering search while doing the "Potty Shuffle."

Checking In! 12/20

The tree is up, stockings are hung, and that's about it. This year I just have not gotten into the holiday spirit. It has been snowing since the beginning of December and it could leave any day now and I would be thrilled! The snow came on way to early this year. We don't normally start getting hammered like we have been until January. I used to love snow, but every year I get older I dislike it a bit more each year. I just can never seem to get warm, my hands and feet are always freezing.

I have been trying to workout as much as I can with all the holiday craziness, but I have been getting a bit off track with all of it. I have been trying to do my best, with eating right, but I have given in quite a bit with all the sweet treats around. Maybe after the holidays I will be able to get my mind set back on track.

I also haven't done my usual holiday Christmas cookie baking this year. I don't want to be tempted to eat those cookies. I did make one batch though and let me tell ya they didn't last long.

I cannot wait for 2011!! This year has had it's ups and downs. The best part of 2010 was that I lost over 20 pounds in 6 months with the help and support of Mamavation! I love you all! I will be starting Turbo Fire after the new year and maybe that will really help me to jump start the New Year and get my mind back on track. Another thing that I have been neglecting is my yoga. My biggest problem is finding a time when it is quiet in the house. Before when JR was working he would go to bed early and the kids would also be in bed. Now that he is laid off he is up with the TV blaring so it's hard to find that peace. I don't know maybe I need to find a pair of head phones with an extra long cord!

I am really hoping to be able to go to Beachbody Super Saturday Event in the Burgh. on January 8th! I will be learning all the new and exciting things that will be happening with BeachBody in the New Year as well as group workout! As long as the weather isn't to bad(1.5 hour drive) I will be there and I now that will help me get out of this slump!

Mamavation Monday- 12/6

I think a few of you have been wondering why I have been posting alot of things about BeachBody and their products. Well, I am officially a Independent Team Beachbody Coach! I am just blown away everyday by all the support that BeachBody has provided not only by the health and fitness support, but by the business support as well! I have never seen a company give you so much help! I love BeachBody!! If you have any questions just let me know!

Last week went fairly good. I got Turbo Fire!!! So far I have done only a few of the workouts and talk about some major cardio!!! It has been quite a few months since I have actually been sore from working out and just after doing the HIIT(High Intensity Interval Training) 15, boy was I sore the next day! I love feeling a bit sore. The music just gets you really going and Chalene Johnson is just amazing!

Starting in January I will be starting Turbo Fire officially. I think I am gonna finish up with Slim In 6 first. Awhile back I was getting a bit frustrated with not loosing weight, or only just a little bit. I think I have figured out why I haven't been. I really don't think I am getting my heart rate up high enough and I was just doing pretty much the same thing day after day. So I am making it one of my goals to keep changing things up here and there.

I have been eating great! Right now I am in a 90 Clean eating Challenge and doing really good with it. I do need to get in the habit of writing what I eat down. I have tried logging stuff online and it is just so tedious for me. I do have a journal that I log my workouts in, so I just need to keep track of my food as well.

Along with the Turbo Fire that I got I also got a bottle of P90X Recovery drink. At first I just wasn't to sure if I would really like it because it's orange flavor and I am not a huge orange person. When I did try it I couldn't believe how good it was! It tastes like an orange cream sickle mmmm it's really good!

Overall I think I have been doing pretty well, but I still have room for improvement!

  • Change things up
  • Keep eating clean
  • Track my food

I didn't get a chance to weigh myself today, so I will get to that later this week.

This weeks blogging carnival is sponsored by @EarthFootwear!! Love EarthFootwear!!

Have a great week everyone!!

P90X ONE on ONE Special!

Anyone who subscribes to the P90X ONE on ONE series (it's our only Home Direct workout program!) between December 2nd and January 2nd will receive their first DVD for just $0.01.* And seeing as how the average turn for a customer is roughly five months, that's some serious commission potential for you. So get the word out while the X is hot.
It's the perfect complement to P90X® and delivers a challenging new workout to your doorstep every month.

About the December Workout

"Even Tony was scared of this lineup. Get ready for moves that are just plain cruel like jack-in-the-box knee tucks. Or Think Drills that'll make you think twice about your coordination. This is plyo to the Nth degree. Let the sweating begin."

"Feed on a steady diet of plyo for an hour with (thankfully) a few iso moves thrown in for dessert. You'll be spinning, jumping, squatting, lunging, frog hopping and more. Work on your balance, vertical jump and just plain staying alive."

*Since this is a subscription, you'll be charged the full amount every month thereafter. You can cancel anytime to avoid future charges.

WOWY SuperGym Tutorial

I know a few of you have been a little lost on how to log your workouts on WOWY SuperGym. Here are some instructions on how to help you out. If you don't have a Beachbody account you can sign up HERE!

1. Enter your workouts in the Workout Calendar.
It's easy to set up workouts in WOWY SuperGym. Just click on "Schedule a workout" on your SuperGym page, or click on any upcoming calendar date. (You'll also find "Schedule a workout" on your personal home page—the page you get to when you first sign in to your account.)
If you don't have a workout planned but want to start exercising right away, click on "Work out now." You can even add information about a workout you've already done: Click on "Add a completed workout," or click on any past calendar date. (Doing this won't make that workout eligible for the Daily Sweepstakes, but it will help you keep track of your progress over time.)

2. Continue setting up your workout: Choose your program and routine.
Select the workout program and specific routine you want to do from the drop-down menu, and then click on “Add Routine.” (If the program you’re looking for doesn’t appear in your drop-down menu, click “Add it to your library” to select it in the Programs page.) Then click “Continue.”

3. Next, choose your start time, recurrences, and Workout Buddies.

Now it’s time to add more details. First, pick the time you want the workout to start. (Be sure you’ve set the correct home Time Zone in your profile.) If you want your workout to recur on a regular basis, choose the frequency from the “Repeat” drop-down menu.

You can also invite any of your Workout Buddies to join you in this particular workout—click the box next to his or her name and photo, and that person will receive an invitation. If you want, you can write a brief inspirational message in the space below.

4. Last, confirm that your information is correct.
If you want to make changes, click “Edit.” If not, click “Save” and you’re done!

5. In a hurry? Use One-Click Workout.
When you want to begin working out right now, there’s a super-quick way to get started. You’ll find the “One-Click Workout” function on your personal home page or WOWY SuperGym page. Just select a program and routine from the drop-down menus, then click “Start now.”
If the program you’re looking for isn’t currently in the menu, click “Edit workout preferences” to go to the Programs page in your profile and add it to your Library. On the same page, under “Quick Workout Settings,” you can also choose a program or activity to be your default workout. Then the next time you use One-Click Workout, you’ll choose that program automatically.

6. Or enter your entire program’s schedule at once with Auto-Schedule.
If you’d like to fill your calendar with your program’s entire schedule automatically, go to WOWY SuperGym® and click on “Auto-Schedule” in the left column. You’ll see preset schedules for any programs you’ve entered into your library. Select the one you want to follow. Then choose the day you’d like to start, the time of day you usually work out, and where you currently are in your program. Your calendar will automatically be populated with each day’s workout.

7. Go to the Cooldown Chat Room.
When you’re done with your workout, go chat with your Workout Buddies and others in the Cooldown Chat Room, our special room for post-workout conversation.

8. View your upcoming workouts.
Now that you’ve planned some workouts, it’s a cinch to keep track of them! Check out Team Beachbody every morning, or before your regular workout time, and you’ll instantly know what program and routine you’ve scheduled for that day.
As soon as you log in, glance at the upper dashboard to see if you have a workout planned that day. Or you can view the details in “My Workouts” on your WOWY SuperGym home page.

Tony Horton's "Pay It Forward" Video

I know some of you out there don't have a workout to follow, so here is one for you! So, no more excuses, JUST DO IT!!!  If this man in the video can do it, than so can you!
